Systematic quality monitoring was launched in 2001 after having joined the project POKI (offering adult learners quality education), which was held under the leadership of Adult Education Centre in Slovenia from 2001-2003. Positive past experience and a strong desire for systematic quality assessment in all areas encouraged us to participate from 2004-2006 in the project Consortium of biotechnical schools: Biotechnical Areas as the Best Learning Environment and the sub-project Expanding the System of Quality Assurance. Since 2006 the quality in adult education has been assessed by a qualified quality counsellor. From 2006 -2007 we were actively involved in the project Identifying and Developing Quality in Slovenian Biotechnical Schools. A wide range of professional expertise and special attention to the promotion of quality raised a new set of challenges. Therefore, in the academic year 2007/2008 we joined the project Biotechnical Domains, Schools for Life and Development. From 2008-2012 we have been coordinators of quality assessment and assurance in this project.
In 2010 our Vocational College gained public recognition for the implementation of quality systems. Our systematic concern for quality assurance in adult education was awarded the Quality Mark.
